International labeling method for stainless steel
The American Iron and Steel Institute uses three digits to mark various standard grades of malleable stainless steel.Among them:
① Austenitic stainless steels are marked with numbers of 200 and 300 series. For example, some of the more common austenitic stainless steels are marked with 201, 304, 316 and 310.
② Ferrite and Martensite type stainless steel with 400 series of numbers.
③ Ferritic stainless steel is 430 and 446 as the mark, martensitic stainless steel is 410, 420 and 440C as the mark,
④ Biphasic (austenite-ferrite), stainless steel, precipitate-hardened stainless steel and high alloys with iron content less than 50% are usually named by patent or trademark.
